BEERS ON TAP

Bulldog – Brown Ale (Champaign County Brewing Co – Mahomet, IL) 6% Dimpled Stein (4.50)

This beer is named after the mascot at Mahomet-Seymour High School, our hometown team. JT Walker’s Restaurant & Brewery is giving a shout-out to all the alumni who ventured through the halls and poured their hearts out on the many different playing fields in search of victory. Bulldog Brown Ale is a smooth, easy drinking beer with multiple flavors. There are hints of caramel, chocolate, and toasted bread, with a mild hop aroma.

47&74 – Scotch Ale (Champaign County Brewing Co – Mahomet, IL) 7.4% Dimpled Stein (4.50)

Mahomet is located between route 47 and Interstate 74, and that’s where you will find JT Walker’s Restaurant & Brewery. Brewed to be 47 IBU’s and 7.4% ABV, this beer is marked by a caramel sweetness with a nice roasted flavor. We took a bold approach with this beer adding a bigger hop profile than in your typical scotch ale in order to ease the sweetness and make this beer more multidimensional.

Hale to the Chief – American IPA (Champaign County Brewing Co – Mahomet, IL) 7% Hourglass Pilsner (4.50)

This is JT Walker’s Restaurant & Brewery’s flagship beer, and it is our pride and joy. It is named for the famed Iliniwek Indians that were the original inhabitants to this region of North America. As an ode to one of their most abundant crops, Hale to the Chief is brewed with portions of corn instead of just barely. Corn is clean, yet sweet. This IPA focuses on a nice hop and malt balance, but it has all of the bursting flavor and aroma that is expected from an American-hopped IPA.

Nine Gals – Saison (Champaign County Brewing Co – Mahomet, IL) 5.5% Snifter (4.50)

Nine Gal Tavern existed in Mahomet, then known as Middletown, in the mid-1800s and was colorfully named for the nine red-headed daughters of its proprietor. Saison styles are already famous for having spicy, peppery notes, and we have complimented that with pounds of real ginger root. Get your taste-buds ready, Nine Gals Ginger Saison is a beer all its’ own.

Orange & Blue – Belgian-Style Witbier (Champaign County Brewing Co – Mahomet, IL) 5% Tulip (4.50)

The colors orange and blue are synonymous with this area, our local high school and the University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign. Thus, we wanted to show our pride in everything that is orange and blue. Witbier is a light-colored wheat beer made with Belgian yeast that gives it subtle flavors of banana and clove. We add orange citrus and real blueberries. The smell of blueberry comes through in the nose, and the beer finishes nicely with a hint of orange peel in the end. It is the perfect thirst-quencher during warm-weather days.

*Ambidextrous VI – Smoked (Left Hand – Longmont, CO) 7.5% Dimpled Stein (6)

This is the sixth version of the Ambidextrous series. This beer is a smoked doppel weizenbock. Dark hazy brown in color, smells distinctively of warm banana bread and light cocoa. The flavors deliver on all aromas with added levels of baking spices, sweet malt and hoppy notes of mint. Your liquid banana split is served.

**Double Crooked Tree – Imperial IPA (Dark Horse – Marshall, MI) 13.6% Snifter (8) Rated 99 on Ratebeer.com

The regular Crooked Tree is not as heavy bodied and malty as many IPA’s, in contrast the palate is more crisp and dry. Well this beer is almost the same just doubled. They took the same recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt gives this beer a huge body. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place, you’ll notice the heavy caramel malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops, they’re just not fast enough. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention.

Guinness Draught (Nitro)Dry Stout (Ireland) 4.1% English Tulip (5)

This Irish dry stout is enjoyed the world over and brewed in over 150 countries. A dark stout with roasted flavors and a malty character.

Milk Stout (Nitro) – Sweet Stout (Left Hand – Longmont, CO) 6% Beer Mug (5) Rated 96 on Ratebeer.com

This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s.  The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories (no real health benefits… sorry).  The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Oberon – American Wheat Ale (BellsKalamazoo, MI) 6% Pub Glass (4) Rated 91 on Ratebeer.com

With the American tradition of baseball’s spring start, Oberon is released on opening day. An American wheat ale made with European ingredients. Belgium wheat malt and Czech Saaz hops provide a spicy, fruity balance to this seasonal ale that will quench your thirst, while you bask in the sun and watch America’s favorite pastime.

Polestar – Pilsner (Left Hand – Longmont, CO) 5.5% Hourglass Pilsner (4.50)

A brilliant, refreshing lager; hand crafted using traditional method & ingredients. A zesty, German-style pilsner with a dry, crisp finish.

*Southern TierChoklatImperial Stout (Southern Tier – Lakewood, NY) 10% Snifter (5) Rated 100 on Ratebeer.com

The ancient Mayans depicted chocolate being poured for rulers and gods. Southern Tier has used the complexity of the darkest, bitter-sweet candy together with the original frothy cold beverage of the ancient Maya to bring to you the Blackwater Series Choklat Stout. Try it after dinner to finish off your meal or add two scoops of ice cream for a choklat float. You can’t beat a beer float for dessert!

400 Pound Monkey – IPA (Left Hand – Longmont, CO) 7% Snifter (5)

Left Hand originally came out with this beer as a test batch for some select markets in 2007 and finalized the beer in 2009. Since then, this has become their year-round IPA. It is named after a comment printed in a 2007 Beer Advocate article where Eric Wallace, owner of Left Hand Brewing said, “As our VP for brewing operations once said, ‘Any monkey can put 400 pounds of hops in the kettle.’ Not everyone can make a great-tasting, well-balanced beer that you can have four or five of.” There you have it.
